The flowers are blooming, the days are getting longer, and Middlesex County’s many attractions are ready to welcome visitors after a long winter. There are so many fun adventures to experience in Middlesex County!
There are acres of family entertainment at Kusterman’s Adventure Farm, in Mount Brydges. They get the fun started March 23rd when they host their Easter Festival. It’s stretched over two weekends, including the holiday long weekend. Everyone can enjoy fun Easter activities like an egg hunt and of course all the fun things you can do on the farm. What kind of things? There’s the Berry Train, ziplines, jump pad, Adventure Barn, petting zoo, swings and slides, Hamster World, Bouncy Town, pedal cart track, corn pit, maze adventures, Cranky the Crane and so much more! The farm officially opens to the public in May and stays open until October. In the summer they offer day camps for the kids, there are school tours available and you can even host your child’s birthday party on the property!
Year-round, gamers and thrill-seekers will find all kinds of amusement at Reload in Strathroy. The amusement centre offers cinematic VR escape rooms and games, a mixed-reality play zone, and hunting simulators. Their immersive indoor playground is the first of its kind in Canada, featuring mixed reality climbing game, augmented reality sandbox, ball wall and more! There’s a free-roam VR arena you can enjoy privately with friends and family that proves a popular choice for birthdays and office parties. There is also a large selection of multiplayer VR experiences including player-versus-player, zombie shooters, and sci-fi adventures! Reload, escape reality!
Motorsports fans will find Middlesex County is home to one of Canada’s “crown jewels” of racing, Delaware Speedway! Located in a natural amphitheatre beside the Thames River between Delaware and Komoka, it’s famed for its unique asymmetrical shape. The half-mile track is open from May to October and features a variety of races from stock and modifieds to hot rods, monster trucks, and motocross. There is on-site camping, a beer patio, and concession stand. The speedway is fully wheelchair accessible so everyone can come an enjoy the fun!
Middlesex County also boasts a wide array of parks with newly updated playgrounds, skateparks, and splash pads. In Ilderton, Heritage Park’s splash pad opens in May, weather permitting, and is in the heart of the community. It’s part of a playground that includes a lit and unlit ball diamond and skatepark. Ailsa Craig’s splash pad boasts 13 water features and is next to a skatepark. At the community hub that is the Komoka Wellness and Recreation Centre, there is a splash pad for children to enjoy. Many more communities in Middlesex have splash pads as well including Dorchester, Lucan, Kilworth, Mount Brydges, Newbury and Parkhill.
If you like water attractions, you’ll love Strathroy’s Fair Grounds Aquatic Park! It features a leisure pool with accessible beach level entry, adult conversation area, lazy river and numerous water features; 18' high water slide with 170' long run; 6-lane, 25 metre competition pool with shaded spectator area and heated pool water. It’s all part of the Fair Grounds Recreation Complex a 15-acre park space featuring baseball diamonds, tennis courts, pavilion and picnic areas, Sleepy Hollow miniature railway, and the West Middlesex Memorial Centre arena.
