Visit Middlesex is committed to continually supporting placemaking throughout the County while finding innovative ways to bring new visitors to our communities. Another primary focus is inspiring innovation amongst the County's tourism operators by encouraging the development of new products and experiences, as well as placing these local business at the forefront of our content.
Last year, Middlesex County's Department of Economic Development and Tourism was granted Tourism Relief Funding to implement what was called the Middlesex County Regenerative Tourism Placemaking Project, which aimed to support tourism operators and downtown main streets by fostering a welcoming, creative, and sustainable destination in order to invite new audiences into our communities and re-ignite the local tourism economy.
Initiatives completed as part of the project included expansion of tourism/wayfinding signage as part of the Discover our Grassroutes program, refurbishing of heritage signage in order to better acknowledge and illustrate key historical sites throughout the County for visitors to the area, commission public art to attract visitors to tourism districts, installation of bike racks and electric vehicle charging stations in close proximity to tourism destinations in order to assist in extending visits to the area and creation of digital content including photos and videos highlighting tourism experiences and destinations in Middlesex County.
It is the hope of the Department that you enjoy these new additions during your visits across the County!
