Throughout the year, almost every community in Middlesex County has a festival or event that is sure to entertain. From early spring maple bush tours to late winter Santa Claus appearances you can spend every season enjoying the small town charm that the towns and hamlets have to offer.
Festival: Battle of the Longwoods
This annual event is held on the first weekend in May and features military re-enactors, camp followers and merchants from Ontario and nearby States meet to bring the war of 1812 to life and recreate the battle of Longwoods.
Taking you back to March 4, 1814, when British troops attempt to expel American invaders. You will be able to hear the crack of the musket and the roar of the cannon, see the colourful uniforms, and smell the food prepared over open fires.
Festival: Dorchester Fair
The Fair showcases the best of the area's harvest where visitors can sample local produce and delicious homemade treats. Delight in all the Fair has to offer – from local entertainment, amusement rides, contests and games, a petting zoo and even our famous parade! Takes place Thanksgiving weekend.
Festival: Glencoe Fall Fair
The Glencoe Fall Fair is a fun-filled three day event held in late September. There you can enjoy the dozens of livestock exhibitors, the Glencoe Fair Parade, the demolition derby, live entertainment, and more!
Festival: Ilderton Fall Fair
The Ilderton Fall Fair has been a meeting place for the celebration of agriculture, creative arts, and rural lifestyle for over 160 years! Featured events include a parade, the Firemen’s breakfast, the tractor pull, the demolition derby, and wine tasting. This three day event has become the highlight of the community’s social calendar and has something to offer for everyone!
Festival: Oxford Renaissance Festival
Our Festival Days are held during the last weekend in June – 2 full days of entertainment, open to the public. Most people plan to stay for several hours, enjoying a meal in our pub, and filling their day with all live opportunities to play along or watch the action. Live music, demonstrations, stage acts, and jousting will give you plenty of renaissance to experience! There are games to play, a storyline to follow, and you could even meet the Queen! On Saturday night the pub stays open after the gates close – and you can party with us with live music all night and our special selection of Renaissance styled beverages, including our specially brewed “FlagonSlayer” beer, Mead, and more!
Festival: Parkhill Fall Fair
The Parkhill Fall Fair brings the community together for three days of fun events such as axe throwing, the fair dance, wagon rides, a demolition derby, classic championship wrestling, and many more!
Festival: Strathroy Hometown Festival
The Strathroy Hometown Festival (formally known as the Strathroy Turkey Festival) is a whole weekend event focused on providing family entertainment, live music, friendly competitions and of course, turkey. Some of the events include, show and shine car show, Karaoke Idol, bike rodeo, midway, live bands, and vendor’s alley. Something for everyone – come out and join us the 3rd week in June.
Festival: Thorndale Fall Fair
The Thorndale Agricultural Society hosts the Annual Thorndale Fall Fair held each September where you can experience animals, rides, model railway, kids’ activities, agricultural education, vendors, antique farm equipment, wagons rides, horse shows, demolition derby, reptile shows, magic shows, parade, live entertainment and more!
